TCA CROSS
To improve skin appearance: dark spots, enlarged pores, acne scars, texture, and more

TCA CROSS
TCA peels are especially recommended for:
- Dark spots (sun spots, melasma)
- Mild to moderate acne scars
- Fine lines and superficial wrinkles
- Mild skin laxity
- Enlarged pores and dull complexion
- Uneven skin texture
What is TCA ?
Before diving into TCA peels, it’s helpful to briefly understand how the skin works.
Our skin is covered with dead cells on its surface like a thin layer of dust. While these cells serve to protect us from external aggressors, they also dull the complexion and leave the skin looking rough, uneven, or tired.
The skin is composed of three main layers. To simplify:
The most superficial layer (epidermis) can be compared to dry, old corn flakes protective, but lacking vitality.
Just beneath it, the upper dermis is like a layer of raisins: slightly more active, but still compacted.
Deeper down, you find fresh, hydrated cells, think of them as juicy grapes, responsible for skin’s structure, glow, and firmness.
TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid) have been used in dermatology for decades. This medium-depth peel penetrates to the upper dermis, where collagen fibers and signs of aging, sun damage, and mild scarring reside. TCA helps lift the dull, outer “corn flake” layer and reactivates the skin’s renewal process at deeper levels. As new, healthier cells rise to the surface, the skin appears smoother, firmer, and more radiant.
There are various strengths of chemical peels: superficial, medium, and deep. TCA is considered a medium-depth peel, meaning it treats deeper than mild peels but without the extended downtime of more intensive treatments. In Canada, the use of TCA is strictly regulated and must be administered in a medical setting.
It’s important to note that while TCA peels are highly effective for correcting dark spots, fine lines, and mild acne scars, they do not replace more advanced treatments such as lasers, radiofrequency, dermal fillers, or other techniques for deep wrinkles, severe scarring, or significant skin laxity. A proper diagnosis often leads to a combination of treatments for optimal, long-lasting results.

TCA Peel - Treatable Areas

Types of Chemical Peels and Their Different Uses
Chemical peels are primarily used on the face, neck, and décolletage.
What determines whether a peel is considered cosmetic or medical is the depth of penetration into the skin. A cosmetic peel only reaches the outermost layer (epidermis), while deeper medical-grade peels penetrate into the upper dermis.
Here are some of the key benefits of a chemical peel:
• Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
• Minimizes enlarged pores
• Stimulates collagen and elastin production
• Helps tighten and firm the skin
• Reduces or even eliminates hyperpigmentation or melasma
• Improves acne
• Enhances the appearance of acne scars

- Cleansing of the skin and protection of sensitive areas
- Application of the TCA solution to the targeted area
- Warm or tingling sensation, well controlled
- Application of neutralizing products if needed
- Application of an anti-inflammatory cream, a moisturizer, and sunscreen
After Your Chemical Peel
Your skin may appear red, slightly brownish, or even white in certain areas this is a normal reaction after a chemical peel. These effects tend to be more pronounced with Jessner or TCA peels, as they are medical-grade and penetrate much deeper than glycolic or salicylic acids. You may also experience a warm sensation and skin tightness (extreme dryness). You must wait 24 hours before washing your face.
The Day After Your TCA Peel
The next day, you can cleanse your face using the products provided. The skin will feel dry, so you’ll need to apply moisturizer and sunscreen for the following 5 to 7 days.
Day 2
The skin will begin to feel tight, and you may notice the peeling process starting. Do not scratch or pull off peeling skin, as this could lead to irritation or even scarring.
Days 3 to 7
The skin will continue to peel. For those with more resilient skin, the exfoliation may be minimal with glycolic or salicylic acids. Keep applying your moisturizer until the skin is fully healed, and continue to use daily sunscreen afterward.
After 7 days, you may resume your regular skincare routine.
