Cellulite Chin
The chin, similar to the cheekbones, changes based on our facial expressions and emotions. It takes different forms when we laugh or appear to be sad. It follows the expressions of the mouth, because these muscles are connected to those that control the chin.
The chin takes on the appearance of an orange peel when we can see small crevices at rest and especially when moving. Here are two possible causes:
- A strong mental muscle that contracts involuntarily.
- Skin in the chin area becomes thinner and loses its elasticity with age.
Fortunately, there are techniques in aesthetic medicine to improve the appearance of orange peel skin. The most common are:
- Injections of hyaluronic acid (fillers) into the fatty tissue under the chin muscle. This has the effect of lifting the muscle and loosening the skin. The effect is immediate and can last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the type of product used.
- Injections of muscle relaxants (Botox® or Dysport®) directly into the muscle. The effect is not immediate. Results begin to be visible after a few days and are optimal at 14 days. This has the effect of relaxing the muscle and thus relaxing the affected area. Lasts an average of 3 to 4 months.
These two techniques are not very painful. They can be used alone or in combination, it all depends on the initial assessment and the expectations of the client. Another advantage of smoothing the appearance of orange peel skin on the chin is that it helps define the facial contours allowing one to achieve a youthful look!
